IV Therapy Training for Nurses

i recently attended an IV Therapy Training for Nurses, it's a 3day seminar composed of 2days lecture and 1 day practicals.. The lecture is about (a review of Pharmacology of Drugs commonly used in IV Terapy, Fluid and Electrolytes, common IV Solutions, control of IV Infections, Blood Transfusions, Nursing Considerations and Interventions, TPN, Standards of Nursing Practice, Chemotherapy, Ethico Legal Basis on IV therapy etc.) so i get to refresh all my knowledge regarding that. And it's nice that i get to learn something new after a long while of not studying. It's something that really worth knowing..:) The last day of our training we have a practicals that is divided into 5 stations. The 1st station is Setting Up an IV infusion, Inserting cannula utilizing Dummy IV arm, Changing and Discontinuing IV infusion. (some of the procedures are the things that i've experienced when i was on duty back then because our clinical instructor would allow us to do it, that's why i'm not havin' a hard time to perform it coz i just based it on my experience before..:)) 2nd Station was Blood Transfusion/Preparation/Discontinuing ( and i could say that it's my first time ever to do it..and thank god i perform it well..:) tnx to d manual..lol) 3rd station is Administration through IV after ANST it's administering IV Drugs through IVF bottle, IV port, volumetric chamber and heplock..(again i already did the administering of IV Drugs to IV port and heplock when i was on duty before, through IV port my c.i assist me to do it, and through heplock sir imatani also assist me when i did that, thanks to them coz it's really a big help on my practicals..:)) Station 4 is Administering Total Parenteral Nutrition fluid infusion and it's my 1st time again to do it, that's why i'm kinda nervous at first, The last station is One on one venipuncture under the supervision of our preceptor and i'm really scared to perform it but i did it well..i got 93% on my practicals..:)yay! Over all my whole experience was really amazing, i got to learn a lot, nd i'll be back on april 18 for my completion so that i could pass my requirements to ANSAP for me to be a licensed IV therapist..wish me luck guys..
